Information center: How to Diaper

The Basic Fold
When changing a diaper, it is helpful to use a changing table. It puts baby at the right height and angle. If you don’t have a changing table, diaper at the baby’s side. This will give you a better angle than diapering at the baby’s feet and it also makes it easier to control a wiggling baby.

Diapering 1

Step 1. Slide the diaper under the baby. Fold the diaper down 2-3 inches by the baby's legs.

Diapering 2

Step 2. Fold the diaper in at the left side seam line.

Diapering 3

Step 3. Fold the diaper in at the right side seam line (make sure the fold is even with the seam, this will help with containment). This forms the "poop trap."

Diapering 4

Step 4. Pull the diaper up between baby's legs. Make sure it stays below the navel.

Diapering 5

Step 5. Pull the diaper that is under the left side of the baby up tight and towards the diaper in the middle and snag the top layer with the left side of the Snappi Clip.

Diapering 6

Step 6. Pull the other side up tight towards the middle and snag the top layer with the right side of the Snappi Clip. Pull the middle section of the Snappi Clip taunt and secure it in the diaper.

Tip: Put a diaper cover (pull-on or Velcro) on over the cloth diaper. This will help to contain the diaper when the baby urinates or has a bowel movement. Make sure all the cotton is tucked inside the cover.
