Baby Wearing is Eye Candy

Observing infants snuggled up close to a parent is one of the perks of working in a baby boutique. It is a site I will never tire of and sometimes brings tears with the realization of how special yet fleeting this time is. So do we wear babies because it’s good for them or because it’s good for us? I hope you agree that the obvious answer is that baby wearing is healthy for everyone involved….the baby, the baby wearer and any observers. So start or continue baby wearing with pride and if you need help figuring it out, take the initiative to get it. Join the baby wearing club in your area. And if you don’t have one, start one. It’s not a hard skill to master and you don’t have to spend lots of money or get a dozen carriers to make it work.

Tiny Tots has some great options to try on too!! That’s very nice - it can be difficult to purchase a baby carrier online without the opportunity to touch and feel the product.

I wore both of my sons, and we all enjoyed it. My sons had my warmth and closeness and got to interact with, or obseerve the world from a safe place. It was fun to explain the world when they were interested and to watch them just peek out when they were tired or needing a break. They could sleep or nurse discretely while in the sling. I tried several types of carriers. Both sons loved the “Over the Shoulder Baby Holder” sling and I found it very easy to use as they progressed. I didn’t really use the ‘Ultimate Baby Wrap” much though I found it very very comfortable - It pulled my clothing up and seemed to be a lot of fabric to manage. My younger son liked it when I wore it. Neither of my sons like the ‘Baby Bjorn’ either facing in or out. The Playtex Hip Hammock is easy and comfortable for an older baby. Any of the baby wearing options were lot easier for me than trying to lug a hardshell carrier about too.
Wearing your baby is wonderful. It is a short precious time in life for mom and baby - dad too if he’ll wear baby. I still wear my 13 month old in the sling or hammock on my hip. Both of my boys are confident, inquisitive and fairly well-mannered for their age. If any bit of this can be attributed to having been worn, then that too is a bonus. Good luck and enjoy!
